It was not until March that it was brought to light, revealing the full richness of its decoration and its historical significance.<\/p><p>This rediscovery highlights a forgotten element of <b>architectural heritage<\/b>, a testament to the building\u2019s prestigious past.<\/p><h3>The Steuernagel Family Coat of Arms<\/h3><p>This corbel bears the <b>Steuernagel family coat of arms<\/b>, for whom Georges Steuernagel, the mayor, had this building constructed in <b>1603<\/b>. This heraldic symbol is not unique: it was also affixed to the corbel of another house built during the same period, beyond the city walls.<\/p><p>This same coat of arms can also be found in the courtyard of <b>32A<\/b>, further proof of the influence and mark left by this family on <b>local history<\/b>.<\/p><h3>A building at the heart of the city\u2019s history<\/h3><p>At the time of its construction, the building was located near the <b>western city wall<\/b>, which, around 1600, stood near the washhouse. Part of this wall is still visible today.<\/p><p>Beyond this wall lay the <b>Bruch<\/b>, corresponding today to the <b>Faubourg de Bitche<\/b>, attesting to the site\u2019s strategic and historical significance.<\/p><h3>A place steeped in history and renewal<\/h3><p>Built in <b>1603<\/b>, this superb building has stood the test of time, serving various purposes, notably as a <b>chancellery<\/b> between 1677 and 1752.
